On today’s quest, I’m going to be writing and also sharing with everyone something that is kicking my a** right now.
DAY 27 | SOMETHING THAT IS KICKING A** RIGHT NOW
There are so many things that are impressive, powerful and strong happening right now thah I don’t even know what to choose or write about but I’m going to be sharing with you guys a movement that is so powerful and strong.
BLM (BLACK LIVES MATTERS)
Black Lives Matter is a decentralized movement advocating for non-violent civil disobedience in protest against incidents of police brutality and all racially motivated violence against BLACK people.
#BlackLivesMatter was founded in 2013 in response to the acquittal of Trayvon Martin’s murderer. Black Lives Matter Foundation, Inc is a global organization in the US, UK, and Canada, whose mission is to eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes. By combating and countering acts of violence, creating space for Black imagination and innovation, and centering Black joy, we are winning immediate improvements in our lives.
I hope this movement doesn’t just make sense only when BLACK KINGS & QUEENS get killed. Our history should be taught everyday. There should be a reminder every single day that we are humans and our skin color doesn’t make us a threat to anyone.
This past few months has taught me about strength in unity, strength in one voice and also there is a huge strength in the black community. I saw mothers standing for their children, I saw fathers standing up for their family, I saw sisters, brother and family demanding for rights and justice.
This movement is a strong one and it will always be.
