I Got the Job vs I started a Business | A Must Read

Read Time:2 Minute, 30 Second

Almost everyone wants to be financially successful and independent. I noticed getting the ‘JOB’ and starting a ‘BUSINESS’ does not get the same hype and supports.

I was going through Instagram explore feeds and I saw a post from a popular motivational speaker and business owner about how people support and celebrate you when you get a new job but the support is different when you start your own business.

When I started blogging, i was pregnant with Genesis and i couldn’t do much. Here when you are pregnant, it’s difficult to get a job except you work in the bank and you will be relieved when you are getting close to delivery. Blogging for me then was a way to just pass the time and get myself distracted till I started noticing that I actually loved it. I had started writing stories when I was much younger and this gave me my first blogging idea which was story writing.

If you go back to my first 20 posts, you will find at least three stories there. I love writing happy endings and creating characters but over time I stopped writing. I would share links, ask people to read and share with others but then, in a day my stats will remain the same and I wasn’t seeing any supports.

I used to work in a beauty store before and everyone believed it was okay I got a job there since I went to a beauty school to studied cosmetology. They thought it was the perfect job for me but I actually wanted to have a platform where I could share my knowledge about beauty and hair.

When I saw this speaker’s post, I immediately agreed because I had experienced the same thing. I got a lot of support from when I used to work in a beauty store even though the pay was nothing to write home about than when i started blogging. I’m happy i didn’t give up blogging because I’m quite happy with the result I’ve been seeing lately.

I wish family, friends and loved ones will support their own and encourage them when they start their small businesses. They said a drop of water makes the mighty ocean and Rome wasn’t built in a day. Perfection isn’t achieved in one day and no one is perfect but consistency in a positive energy filled environment with words of encourage will go a long way.

Support your own and when you have ideas or opportunities that could help them grow better, do not hesitate to render such help.

Supporting small businesses shouldn’t just be based on financial assistance or buying from them or using their services alone. Recommend them when people ask for such services, use your social media platform and words of encouragement will go a long way.

Support a small business owner today. You might be saving a business owner or idea that is about to give up.

Thank you for reading

    1. Exactly. The support towards small businesses is just frustrating. Those big brands grew from a small business. I’m glad you like the post. Thank you for your comment 😊

  1. You can do so much to support small businesses – from liking their social page, to leaving a positive review to sharing their page! Love this post
