When To Replace Your Makeup

Read Time:2 Minute, 33 Second
I’m very sure majority of us don’t even know there is an expiring date on most of our makeup products. So today let’s look at when to replace our makeup and avoid skin breakouts or other skin condition.
Welcome back to my blog.

How is everyone doing today? Let me know in the comment section.

Let’s get right to the post.

FOUNDATION

I have a foundation that I’ve used for a year plus and that is just not acceptable. Yes, we’ve all done this at some point and some still have foundations of 2 years and I’m not kidding because I have one in my makeup box. Foundations are to be disposed or replaced after 6months or a year which is the ideal duration for foundation.

MASCARA

Mascara is to be replaced after 3 to 6months which is the ideal duration for mascara. Do not pour oil or facial spray inside a congealed mascara case. How do I know this? Well, you are reading from someone that has done this before and trust me, I’m not judging.

CONCEALER

1 year is ideal for concealer to be replaced. I have a concealer of 3 years and I’m not kidding, the palette looks like something that needs to stay in a Halloween store.

LIPSTICK

Lipsticks should be replaced between 12-18 months. Do not wait till you start seeing white mushroom on your lipstick before changing it or wiping the mushroom off and continuing using.

POWDER EYESHADOW / BLUSH

This should be replaced after 12-24months. If you are reading this, please go and dispose that 3 years or forever powder eyeshadow and blush that you have. You have used your money, enough is enough sister girl.

MAKEUP BRUSHES

This should be replaced every 3 years with good care. Stop using brushes that is looking like a wet mopping stick. I know you have it. I can feel you laughing hard because you’ve been caught. Please change the brushes.

NAIL POLISH

Every 2 years please change your nail polish. Stopping adding nail removal to your congealed expired nail polish.

PERFUMES

This should be replaced between 3-5 years. Okay this made me laugh because we literally bath in this. I’m very sure majority exhaust their bottles between 3-6months except you have 500 bottles which I have no idea what you are doing with them. Anyways, go to your beauty table and clear out those perfumed bottles that has stayed from 200 BC into the trash my darling.

MOISTURIZER

This should be replaced between 1-2 years. I strongly suggest a year for face moisturizer. It is written on the bottle. Read instructions my lovely apples.

EYELINER

4-6 months is enough to replace an eyeliner. Stop cutting your eyelids with them overused eyeliner brush except that bottle is very expensive and yes you still need to replace it.

So there is this small number on each makeup products in a small circle which has 6-24 months.  That is not the product number my apples. It is the expiring date.

Thank you for reading

I hope you enjoyed reading…

  1. I laughed seriously reading this. I’m actually guilty of this in every way possible and I’m glad I got a guide. Thank you for sharing

  2. This is really funny but at the same time it is very good to read instructions on our products. It is very important and thank you for sharing.

  3. Hahahahahahah. Yes I can relate to you having those ones with mushrooms and you refused to lose them because they were your first makeup from your beauty school. Thank God you are now more professional 🤣🤣🤣

  4. I wish there is a section for image uploading. I would have uploaded my foundation and powder. My powder is hitting the bottom 🤣🤣🤣 I know for skin protection this is really valid. Thank you for posting and I’m a new commenter. I’m reading your blog now and all your post on motherhood has been amazing.

  5. Ah ah for the perfume i exhaust mine lest than a year and i always buy the big bottle.
I think because of the quarantine, i dont need to buy a new one this year.

  6. I find it so interesting that powder products only last 12-24 months! Like I’m sure some of mine are older than that and absolutely fine…. maybe I’m just gross- haha!

    1. Lol. You are not gross. I’ve used a powder for 3 years but for the sake of our skin and health, it’s good to let go of old products.
