Hey my Apples, how y’all doing?
Welcome to another exciting blog post on fashion. The month of May which happen to be one of my best months so far. Lots of ups and downs but I can’t complain as the grace of God is always sufficient.
So on today’s post, let’s talk about some fashion terms. Like ‘oh my OOTD will be a LBD’. hahahahaha ‘yeah I just did that’.
16 Important Fashion Terms you need to know
1. OOTD:
I’m very sure a lot of times you might or would have seen this term on many fashion and beauty blog posts and wondering what is this right? Well, OOTD means ‘OUTFIT OF THE DAY’. It is a term used when a fashion personal want to talk about their outfit for the day. If you do not know that, you are welcome.
2. OOTN:
Just like outfit of the day, just replace the day with night and you will have ‘OUTFIT OF THE NIGHT’
3. LBD:
Every woman should have ‘A LITTLE BLACK DRESS’.
4. CHICONOMICS:
According to Glamour, it is a way to live fashionably despite the economic crisis or restricted funds; can also apply to an item of clothing. How to put this term in action is by updating your look with new accessories rather than splashing out on a whole new wardrobe makes perfect chiconomics.
5. ON TREND:
The most stylish way to say something is trendy.
6. RECESSIONISTA:
A fashionable person or trendsetter who aims to weather the economic crisis without sacrificing their style.
7. FRUIT SALAD:
This ain’t about food my apples. Fruit salad is a cocktail of mixed prints that are big and bold.
8. LUST HAVE:
A fashionable piece that is instantly covetable and must be bought ASAP.
9. FASHION 2.0:
Fashion for the digital age; from brands on social networks like Twitter and Facebook, to streaming techniques that bring designer showcases and shows to buyers and shoppers in real time. For example Versace is live streaming it’s catwalk show this afternoon.
10. PEAK A BOO:
Sheer fabrics or cut-out details in clothing which reveal small sections of the body.
11. CHANDELIER:
A pair of long, glamorous earrings which almost touch or fall below the shoulders. Also known as door-knockers.
12. GRANNY CHIC:
Fashion inspired by your dear old granny – from cosy blanket-style cardigans to traditional yet chic tweeds.
13. FLATFORM:
A flat, platform shoe.
14. FROW:
A hybrid of the words ‘front’ and ‘row’ – as in the front row of a catwalk show.
15. FAST FASHION:
Catwalk-inspired clothing collections produced by high street stores such as Zara, Topshop and H&M at low-cost and in the fastest time possible to capture the latest trends.
16. FASHION TRIBE:
A collection of people identifiable as belonging to a certain group by the way they dress, e.g. hipsters, Goths, (The Only Way Is) Essex girls.
STYLE TERMS (Inspired by Popular)
1. SOCK BOOT:
The sock boot hits you at midcalf and features a pointed toe. You pull these on and roll up your jeans,
2. PUFFER:
A nylon puff coat that can be worn a number of ways: belted, off the shoulder, or secured all the way to the top. Outerwear has gone extreme: it’s the bigger the better, and being cozy has never looked so chic.
3. FANNY:
A bag that’s less what your dad wore around the waist or shoulders by guys.
3. MONOKINI:
A monokini must absolutely feature two wide side cutouts, but plenty of them are complete with additional snips.
4. DUSTER:
The duster coat comes in satin or silk but wool versions still count. Either way, these give your outfit a little bedtime allure, and you can use them to play with proportions.
5. BOMBER:
B
omber jackets definitely made it big in 2016, but then models and bloggers found an alternative way to wear it, unrolling the top of the sleeve off the shoulder. This appears most luxe when your bomber comes in silk, but these pieces are also good for a little embroidery, should you want to jazz up your outermost layer.
There you have it guys.

I use OOTD in some of my posts (less than the average). When it comes to OOTN, I don’t really use a lot. I have heard but never used. I love CHANDELIER earrings. I never knew what or heard the name RECESSIONISTA, however, now that I know there is such word exist. I am definitely a RECESSIONISTA. I like to wear trendy clothes at times when I know I wear, but, I do it for the style.
